Your new role

We\'re looking for a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to drive financial performance and strategic insight across our Enterprise and Government, Funders and Non Profit (GFN) segments. These segments provide products to serve a global user base of students, researchers, and professionals—delivering intuitive, high-value tools in the digital research workflow.

This role is at the intersection of finance, strategy, and product. You\'ll be responsible for optimising our subscription economics, supporting decision-making with deep financial insights, and working across the organisation to deliver improved segment financial performance.

What you’ll be doing

Strategic Partnering

  • Act as a key finance advisor to the EVP of the Enterprise and GFN segments and also for the Customer function
  • Ensure that the business is consistently challenged to think in a commercial way
  • Be the business’s subject matter expert on all financial issues
  • Work cross-functionally to align segment financial planning with function team plans to ensure joined up product and growth roadmaps.
  • Proactively deliver valuable and insightful analysis to drive the business forward.

Revenue & Metrics Management

  • Own the forecasting and tracking of critical segment KPIs :
  • Monthly & Annual Recurring Revenue (MRR / ARR)
  • Subscriber Growth and Churn
  • Sales cycle length
  • Customer Profitability
  • Conversion Rates and Strategy tracking (e.g., Free-to-Paid, Trial-to-Paid)
  • Sales Pipeline Analytics
  • Segment profitability
  • Identify performance trends, risks and opportunities based and influence business action to address
  • Forecasting, Insights & Reporting

  • Build robust and flexible financial models and dashboards that power scenario planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Deliver well reasoned, realistic and appropriately analysed forecasts / budgets with succinct story telling for non financial business partners
  • Partner with analytics and systems teams to improve financial reporting infrastructure and visibility.
  • Deliver insightful and actionable business reporting.
  • Be a valued member of the Segment management team and the go to person on all financial issues
  • The business being supported to take more data driven and commercial decisions through being a strong business partner
  • Driving actions to deliver improvements to key business metrics
  • Facilitating productive cross-function conversations
  • Being a trusted and credible finance professional
  • What you’ll bring to the role

  • Finance partnering experience preferably from a SAAS or subscription revenue background
  • Experience in organisations large enough to provide meaningful finance partnering exposure (e.g., 500+ employees), where responsibilities include managing budgets, reporting, forecasting, and influencing business decisions.
  • The ability to analyse data, draw conclusions from it and to explain in an appropriate and articulate way to non finance business partners
  • An ability to communicate with business partners at all levels
  • An ability to both support and challenge business partners in an appropriate way
  • A commercial mindset
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and a desire to for continuous improvement
  • Strong spreadsheet modelling and forecasting skills and experience using FP&A tools such as Anaplan and Netsuite.
