Subcontract Agreement – Power BI / Data Engineer – Madrid – Candidates must be located in Madrid, Spain

Location : Madrid, Spain (Occasional visits to Madrid Office)

Experience : 5+ years

Pay Rate : TBN

Contract : 12 Months

Job Overview :

We are looking for a skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Expert and Data Engineer in Madrid with deep expertise in Microsoft Power BI and Azure Databricks. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in data modelling, SQL development, and analytics, with the ability to design and implement robust, scalable data solutions that drive business insights.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Implement and maintain data models that support analytical and reporting needs.
  • Build, optimize, and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models.
  • Design, develop, and manage data pipelines and ETL / ELT workflows using Azure Databricks with PySpark / SQL.
  • Write efficient, well-structured SQL queries for data transformation, cleansing, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across the analytics ecosystem.
  • Apply best practices for performance tuning in both data pipelines and BI reporting.
  • Document technical designs, workflows, and data dictionaries for ongoing maintainability.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

  • Proven experience with Power BI development (DAX, Power Query, Row-Level Security, data modelling, reporting functionalities).
  • Good hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and transformation.
  • Solid understanding of data modelling and dimensional modelling techniques.
  • Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative development.
  • Knowledge about Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
  • Experience applying Design Thinking principles to solve business problems through data-driven solutions.
  • Experience implementing CI / CD workflows in Azure DevOps is a plus.
