Structural Engineer

Overview Structural Engineer role at AECOM. Based in Madrid with a flexible hybrid work model (2–3 days per week in the office).

Responsibilities Perform structural calculations and design for various building types, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.

Develop technical documentation, including calculation reports, design narratives, and documentation for tenders and permits; communicate project results to stakeholders.

Create and manage Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models, integrated within BIM platforms to support collaborative design workflows.

Participate in client meetings, providing technical input and ensuring alignment between structural solutions and client expectations.

Ensure effective interdisciplinary coordination with architecture, MEP and other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.

Support project planning and technical management, contributing to timelines, deliverables, and resolution of design challenges.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related area is a plus.

Fluency in English and Spanish, both verbal and written.

At least 6 years of experience in Structural Design / Calculations and Building Engineering.

Knowledge of codes and standards such as Spanish National Codes, AASHTO / ACI / ASTM, Eurocodes.

Experience with structural software packages such as MIDAS-Civil, ETABS or similar; familiarity with BIM platforms is a plus.
