Overview

Role : Buyer GPCS (Global Procurement Central Services). Business area : Operations – Procurement. At Amazon, we are seeking a Non-Inventory Buyer to join our Fulfilment Centre (FC) cross functional team. The Non-Inventory Buyer will work in a team environment with Internal Amazon teams and vendors to administer and source non-inventory goods and services, including warehouse / office supplies, safety equipment, tools for internal consumption, and repair and maintenance services. The GPCS Team, reporting into the Global Procurement Organisation (GPO), ensures value for money for non-inventory goods to provide FCs with necessary shipping supplies to operate smoothly. As a GPCS Buyer, you will provide functional support to all FCs within a cluster for procurement, focusing on securing a constant flow of packaging goods and services at the best overall value."

Reporting and travel : The GPCS Buyer will report to the Regional Manager for GPCS EMEA. Occasional travel may be required to visit FCs within the cluster or other regions (about 5% of time).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute daily forecast and effective materials management of all non-inventory packaging supplies.
  • Execute purchase order creation based on the planned forecast and internal requests.
  • Liaise with suppliers to secure prompt deliveries for the full range of shipping supplies items.
  • Develop relationships with primary internal customers (on-site management teams), external suppliers, and other Amazon teams (Operations and Corporate).
  • Work in full compliance with the company Spending and Transaction Policy.
  • Plan truck deliveries and place replenishment orders; plan time slots for deliveries with suppliers and communicate delivery schedules to FC stores teams.
  • Act as escalation POC to ensure deliveries are offloaded as per agreed timelines with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Stores to mitigate space constraints.
  • Manage and drive down the number of Invoices on Hold (IOH) requests.
  • Support change initiatives and continuous improvement projects to improve shipping supplies processes.
  • Flag delivery issues to the Regional Manager in GPCS and the EU Procurement Team for visibility.
  • Provide support to other cluster buyers as required.
  • Interact with FC Stores Coordinators daily to understand shop floor activities.
  • Provide training to new cluster buyers.
  • Deliver procurement metrics in line with targets, including KPI metrics, cost savings for the cluster, avoiding FC stock-out issues, and achieving project objectives.

Operations sits at the heart of the Amazon customer experience, overseeing the journey from purchase to delivery. We operate across Europe with numerous fulfilment centres, delivery stations, and a large, diverse workforce. We prioritise safety, teamwork, and customer-centric service, delivering high-quality results. Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and advanced proficiency in the local language (written and verbal) are valued.

Preferred qualifications are not required to apply. If you have the basic qualifications listed, we’d love to hear from you. Additional sourcing and purchasing competencies, relevant experience with shipping supplies (Corrugated Materials), and experience in Procurement, Materials Management and Logistics are beneficial. Basic knowledge of ERP and / or MRP systems (such as Oracle, SAP, COUPA) is helpful.
