Specialist Data Core Design And Engineering - Vodafone

In this role you will shape the IoT mobile core architecture, translating high-level designs into implementable configurations for Vodafone’s IoT network platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the 3-5 year evolution of the Mobile Core for IoT, ensuring capacity and security are baked into the design. You’ll lead design and integration work on 2G/3G/4G/5G core nodes, mentor peers, and deliver solutions that scale with Vodafone’s IoT growth and cloud capabilities. * Bonus on top of gross salary * Remote work up to 20 days/year * Private health and life insurance * Review and challenge high-level designs for Mobile Packet Core & IP networks and convert to low-level designs (LLD) * Produce detailed design docs covering configuration matrices, security implications, and operational guidelines * Define Mobile Core network strategy and a 3-5 year IoT evolution roadmap * Oversee network capacity management and related planning * Make decisions impacting project schedules and deliverables * Mentor team members and share expertise * Provide timely problem analysis and escalation when needed * Knowledge of Mobile Packet Core routing including devices OSs and customer connectivity * IP networking knowledge (switches, routing, firewalls, load balancers) in Telco/Enterprise environments * Cloud knowledge and understanding of 5G technologies * Circuit-switched knowledge is a plus * University degree in telecom or related field * Industry certifications (CCNA, CCIE, JCNIE) * Hands-on experience with SGSN/CSGN, MME, GGSN/PGW, NB-IoT * 5+ years with 2G/3G/4G/LTE core nodes; ability to lead solution design and implementation * Familiarity with 3GPP interfaces to external nodes (DNS/RADIUS/PCRF/IMS) * Proficiency in Linux and scripting (Python, Perl) * Ability to work unsupervised and manage virtual technology teams * Understanding of NFV, MOPs, OSS/BSS fault/performance management * Leadership and mentoring * Stakeholder management across business and technical teams * Self-motivation and autonomous working style * Mobile Packet Core * 5G technologies * IP networking (MPLS, BGP) #J-18808-Ljbffr
