Senior Packing Engineer | CAIP EUROPE (Nyíregyháza, Hungary or Zaragoza, Spain)

CAIP Group is a global Tier 1 automotive supplier for premium interior components — instrument panels, door panels, and decorative trims — for leading European OEMs. We are currently building two new production sites in Spain and Hungary. This is a greenfield role: you will not inherit an existing packaging system, you will design it. The concepts you define now will run for the lifetime of the programs.
Your responsibilities

Develop packaging concepts for new products from first draft through validation to formal customer release — returnable containers, dunnage, and load carriers.
Deliver the logistics and packaging cost position for customer RFQs within program timing.
Define and release packaging for after-sales spare parts in line with OEM aftermarket requirements.
Review supplier packaging concepts and drive standardization to reduce container variety and handling cost.

Standards, materials, and serial production

Set technical specifications, quality standards, and certification requirements for packaging materials; steer sourcing and consumption.
Write packaging work instructions and qualify plant and 3PL personnel against them.
Act as escalation point for packaging disruptions in serial production — containment, root cause, permanent corrective action.

Logistics planning

Design the supply chain for new programs: 3PL selection, inbound and outbound transport concepts, distribution strategy, and transport packaging as one integrated solution.
Plan and improve in-plant logistics layouts, storage areas, and material flow.
Specify logistics equipment and support infrastructure procurement in line with the overall plant plan.
Own the logistics and packaging cost baseline: budget planning, variance analysis, cost-down measures.

Your profile

Degree in Logistics Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
3+ years in automotive supply — ideally interior or plastic injection components. Experience in a plant ramp-up or new program launch is a strong advantage.
Confident in APQP and PPAP; able to run packaging development and logistics validation independently against a customer milestone plan.
Working knowledge of OEM packaging and logistics standards (VDA / Odette or equivalent); practical experience with returnable tooling and expendable packaging.
Fluent English. Spanish or Hungarian depending on location is an advantage; Chinese is welcome but not required.
Willingness to travel to customer sites, suppliers, and our Chinese headquarters.
