Deputy General Manager - Renewable Energy

Travel: Regular travel between Spain and the UK required

Climate17 is supporting an established renewable energy business in the appointment of a Deputy General Manager to work closely with the Managing Director and support the continued development of the business.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious professional at an early stage of their career to gain broad exposure to the commercial, financial, technical and strategic aspects of a growing renewable energy company.

Working directly alongside the Managing Director, the successful candidate will initially support a wide range of day-to-day business activities, projects and decisions. Over time, they will take ownership of increasingly important areas of the business.

This is not intended to be a highly senior appointment from day one. Our client is looking for someone with strong potential, intellectual curiosity and the ambition to develop into a broader leadership role over the longer term.

Key Responsibilities

The role will provide exposure across the business, including:

• Supporting the Managing Director with day-to-day business management and strategic priorities.
• Reviewing management reporting, business performance and key KPIs.
• Providing analytical support across technical, commercial and financial matters.
• Supporting M&A transactions, investment opportunities and due diligence processes.
• Assisting with commercial discussions and negotiations with clients and external partners.
• Analysing individual projects, investment opportunities and potential new business areas.
• Preparing specific business studies and supporting strategic projects.
• Monitoring and analysing EPC and O&M activities and project performance.
• Coordinating activities involving internal teams, advisers, clients and other external stakeholders.
• Supporting decision-making through clear analysis and well-structured recommendations.
• Gradually taking greater ownership of selected projects and areas of the business as experience develops.

About You

Our client is particularly interested in candidates with approximately 2 to 3 years' professional experience who can combine exposure across at least two of the following areas:

Technical: An engineering background would be particularly valuable.

Financial: Experience within M&A, Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, investment, Big Four or a similar environment.

Legal: Experience supporting M&A, corporate transactions or other commercial matters, ideally combined with a good understanding of financial concepts.

Potential backgrounds could include:

• An engineer who has moved into M&A, Corporate Finance or transaction advisory.
• A finance professional with exposure to business operations, infrastructure or project environments.
• A lawyer with M&A or transactional experience and strong financial understanding.
• A Big Four or consulting professional with technical and transaction-related exposure.
• Experience within renewable energy, energy, construction or infrastructure would be particularly relevant. Exposure to EPC and O&M businesses would also be beneficial.
