THE MISSION & CORE SCOPE
- The Mission: Lead the design, launch, and scaling of JD Logistics' last-mile delivery network across Spain, building a highly efficient and reliable distribution operation from the ground up.
- The Scope: You will take end-to-end operational ownership of last-mile delivery in Spain, covering network planning, delivery station launch and management, carrier and courier management, service quality, operational performance, and cost efficiency. You will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to build and scale the country's last-mile network.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Network Expansion & Operations: Lead the planning, launch, ramp-up, and ongoing management of delivery stations across Spain. Establish standardized operating processes and performance management mechanisms across the network.
- Last-Mile Performance: Own country-level last-mile operational performance, including First-Time Delivery Rate, on-time delivery, delivery productivity, scan compliance, customer escalations, and overall service quality.
- Carrier & Courier Management: Develop and manage relationships with third-party delivery service providers (DSPs), carriers, subcontractors, and partner fleets. Support commercial negotiations and ensure partners consistently meet agreed service and performance standards.
- Network Optimization: Continuously optimize delivery routes, station capacity, fleet resources, and operational processes to support business growth and improve efficiency.
- Cost Management: Drive cost-per-delivery improvement and operational efficiency while maintaining high service levels and sufficient delivery capacity.
- Team Leadership: Build, lead, and develop local last-mile operational teams and delivery station management teams as the network expands.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Commercial, Warehouse, Line-Haul, Finance, HR, Technology, and other functions to ensure an integrated and scalable logistics operation.
- Reporting & Governance: Establish clear operational reporting and governance routines, translating operational data into actionable improvement plans and communicating performance and key issues to senior management and global HQ.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Last-Mile Operations Experience: Significant experience in last-mile delivery, express parcel, e-commerce logistics, courier operations, transportation, or related logistics environments.
- Multi-Site Operations: Proven experience managing or supporting multi-site delivery operations, delivery stations, depots, or regional/national last-mile networks.
- Network Launch & Scaling: Experience in launching, expanding, or significantly improving last-mile delivery networks. Greenfield or rapid-growth experience is highly preferred.
- Carrier Management: Strong experience managing third-party carriers, DSPs, subcontractors, or delivery partners, including service performance and commercial discussions.
- Operational Excellence: Strong understanding of delivery station operations, route planning, driver/courier management, productivity, service quality, and last-mile cost structures.
- Data-Driven Management: Strong analytical skills and the ability to use operational data to identify issues, improve performance, and support business decisions.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead operational teams, manage multiple stakeholders, and drive accountability in a fast-paced environment.
- Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in both English and Spanish is strictly mandatory. The successful candidate must be able to lead local operations in Spanish and communicate operational performance and business priorities with global HQ in English. Knowledge of Mandarin is a distinct asset.
- Local Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Spanish last-mile delivery and transportation market, including local carrier and delivery partner ecosystems.
