Principal Trino/PrestoDB Engineer at BairesDev

We are seeking a Principal Trino/PrestoDB Engineer with deep expertise in distributed query engines, SQL federation, connector architecture, and query optimization technologies. The technology stack includes popular open source query engines -- Trino, PrestoDB, Apache Hive, Impala, and related big data technologies. There is ample scope for collaboration and contribution to open source. The ideal candidate will lead the design and optimization of high-performance distributed query systems, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineering teams while delivering cutting‑edge solutions for complex data processing challenges.

What You'll Do:

• Contribute actively to Trino/PrestoDB and related open source projects as a core contributor.
• Design and optimize distributed query engines for high-performance data processing.
• Architect SQL federation solutions to enable seamless cross-platform data querying.
• Lead connector architecture development for diverse and complex data sources.
• Drive advanced query optimization initiatives to maximize system performance.
• Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership across projects.

What we are looking for:

• 10+ years of experience in software development.
• Strong expertise in distributed query engines and SQL federation systems.
• Deep understanding of connector architecture and data source integration.
• Proficiency in advanced query optimization techniques and performance tuning.
• Proven experience with large-scale distributed systems and data processing.
• Core contributions to Apache open source projects (Trino, PrestoDB, Spark, Hive, or similar).
• Advanced level of English.
