Descripción del trabajo

Scopely is looking for a Lighting and VFX Lead to join our Marketing Creative Services team, Flamed, in our Barcelona office on a hybrid basis.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play, every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues, or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

We are the in-house creative agency, Flamed, an international multidisciplinary team. We build thousands of creatives every year to support all Scopely games Marketing needs worldwide.

What you will do:

As a Lighting and VFX Lead, drive the visual quality of our User Acquisition (UA) ads and promotional trailers across our diverse portfolio of games. In this role, you will lead a specialized team of artists, bridging the gap between artistic vision and technical execution.

You will be responsible for establishing the lighting mood, color scripts, and explosive visual effects that capture player attention in highly competitive mobile ad spaces. If you have a cinematic eye, a deep understanding of real‑time and pre‑rendered workflows, and a passion for leading creative teams to success, we want to hear from you.

  • Lead & Inspire: Manage, mentor, and guide a team of Lighting and VFX artists working on marketing creatives, ensuring high morale, continuous growth, and peak performance.
  • Visual Direction: Establish and maintain the lighting and VFX visual bar for CG trailers, UA video creatives, and promotional assets across multiple Scopely IP.
  • Hands‑On Creation: Jump into the pipeline to create benchmark–quality lighting setups, dynamic particle systems, and compositing for high‑priority trailers.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, and Video Editors to ensure the VFX and lighting enhance the storytelling and meet marketing objectives.
  • Pipeline Optimization: Evaluate and improve the current lighting, VFX, and rendering pipelines (in engines like Unreal or offline renderers like Octane Render) to maximize efficiency without sacrificing quality.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular art reviews, providing constructive, actionable feedback to ensure consistency across all marketing assets.
  • Clearly communicate updates and communicate timely concerns to the production team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in Lighting and VFX for games, animation, or film, with at least 2 years in a Lead or Supervisory role.
  • Portfolio: A strong demo reel showcasing exceptional lighting, shading, rendering, and dynamic visual effects (explosions, magic, environmental effects, etc.).
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in industry‑standard tools such as Unreal Engine, Maya, Cinema 4D, Octane Render, and After Effects.
  • Unreal Engine Mastery: Advanced, hands‑on expertise in Unreal Engine is mandatory. You must have a deep understanding of real‑time lighting (Lumen/Path Tracer) systems to drive and elevate our core cinematic pipeline.
  • Generative AI Integration: Practical knowledge of and a strong interest in leveraging Generative AI tools. You should be eager to explore how AI can accelerate concepting, iterate on visual development, and optimize production workflows.
  • Cinematic Eye: Strong understanding of cinematography, composition, color theory, and how lighting affects storytelling and emotional impact in short‑form video.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex visual feedback to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Agility: Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple projects across different art styles (from stylized to realistic) simultaneously.

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience specifically creating creatives for Mobile User Acquisition (UA) campaigns.
  • A passion for mobile games and an understanding of what drives player engagement.
  • Pipeline Development knowledge and experience.

To consider your application, please include a portfolio, Reel or /links to examples of your work.
