Overview

Data Science Team Lead at Printful. This role involves working across Printful and Printify platforms post-merger, driving technical excellence and a culture of collaboration and innovation. You will manage a team of data scientists and refine team rituals to ensure high-quality, impactful project delivery.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Functionally lead a team of 7 data scientists.
  • Organize regular 1 : 1s with data scientists.
  • Mentor and coach data scientists to enhance their technical and business acumen.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set development goals, and provide career guidance.
  • Establish and evaluate optimal team rituals for project delivery.
  • Enhance the organizational impact of the machine learning team by refining collaboration and innovation practices.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and AI fields and drive their application within the business.
  • Collaborate with the MLOps team to ensure infrastructure and ML platform support data science needs.
  • Define and drive the implementation of KPIs for machine learning projects. Regularly track KPIs and proactively raise issues within the team.
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning Product Managers to define the vision of machine learning in the company and discuss potential ML solution applications for business problems.

Your Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in data science / machine learning / AI.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in leading a team of data scientists and managing projects from ideation to deployment.
  • Experience in a marketplace / product company.
  • Experience with model development, optimization, and deployment in production.
  • Familiarity with MLOps best practices.
  • Proficiency in Python-based ML frameworks.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred) for ML deployments.
  • Experience in solving real-world ML problems at scale.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic planning.
  • Experience in hiring, team scaling, and fostering a high-performance ML culture.
