Data Ops Lead – Asset Management

Purpose of Role.

As Team Lead Asset Management Data Operations, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Data Operators (Business Data Stewards) within Helvetia Baloise Asset Management function. You will oversee the delivery of high-quality, reliable data across all key data domains and ensure alignment with data governance standards and business priorities.

In this role, you act as the central coordination point between business stakeholders, data management teams, and technical functions. You will drive operational excellence in data management processes, and foster a strong data stewardship culture within your team.

Beyond operational oversight, you will play a critical role in shaping data practices, improving processes, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AM Data Operators, ensuring high performance and continuous skill development
• Set clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with business and data governance goals
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and data ownership within the team
• Manage workload allocation and ensure efficient execution of day-to-day data operations

Stakeholder & Demand Management

• Act as the senior point of contact for business stakeholders regarding data requirements, issues, and priorities
• Ensure effective intake, prioritization, and delivery of data-related requests
• Translate business needs into structured and actionable data and data quality requirements
• Represent the team in cross-functional forums and data governance bodies

Data Operations & Quality Oversight

• Oversee daily operations of data management platforms, ensuring high data quality across all domains (financial instruments, company data, ESG, market data, etc.)
• Ensure consistent creation and maintenance of “gold copy” data across systems
• Monitor data quality KPIs and ensure timely resolution of issues
• Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement of data quality processes

Collaboration & Delivery

• Coordinate closely with Technical Data Stewards, Data Integration, and Data Quality teams to ensure end-to-end implementation of data requirements
• Ensure alignment with data standards, policies, and governance frameworks
• Support and contribute to data-related initiatives and transformation projects

Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure adherence to data governance policies, standards, and procedures
• Lead regular data quality assessments and audits, driving corrective actions
• Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance scalability and reliability
• Stay current on industry best practices and incorporate them into the operating model

Training & Enablement

• Ensure team members are properly trained on tools, processes, and data standards
• Support broader business users with guidance on data usage and data-related processes
• Promote data literacy and stewardship across the asset management function

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• ~7 - 10 years of experience in data management, data governance, or related roles within asset management
• Proven experience in leading teams or managing people in a data or operational environment
• Strong understanding of financial instruments and asset classes (equities, fixed income, funds, structured products, etc.)
• Deep knowledge of data management principles, data quality frameworks, and governance standards (e.g., DAMA, DCAM)
• Experience with data integration, ETL processes, and data quality tooling
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at multiple organizational levels
• Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a dynamic environment
• Certifications such as CDMP, DCAM or DGSP are a plus
