We do our work as a remote team, delivering cloud‑native solutions across public and private clouds.
Responsibilities
Work on large‑scale, distributed systems to drive Hive innovation and build additional components.
Create products addressing complex SQL query workloads on public or private clouds within the Cloudera Data Platform (CDP).
Design and develop features for parallel and distributed query engines, advancing innovation in CDP.
Focus on query optimization, performance, and scalability of SQL queries.
Write design documentation for key features and capabilities.
Improve code quality through tests, automation, and code reviews.
Understand customers’ workloads and deliver effective technical solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 6+ years of experience.
Experience with query optimization tools such as Apache Calcite.
Strong coding discipline, attention to detail, and quality focus.
Proficiency in data structures and algorithms; programming in Java is desired.
Solid understanding of database internals, query processing and SQL query optimization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate on cross‑functional projects.
Preferred Background
Contributions to open‑source Apache projects (Hive, Impala, Calcite) or other RDBMS.
Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem and file formats such as Parquet and ORC.
Familiarity with public cloud infrastructures (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Recognized contributions to open‑source initiatives.
