The Amazon Devices Core AI team seeks to hire an Applied Scientist who has a solid background in design and development of scalable AI / ML models, deep passion for building end-to-end products, strong ability to communicate scientific ideas and results, and has a proven track record of executing complex projects and delivering high business impact. Experience with on-device ML is a plus.

The long-term vision of the Core AI team is to make Amazon devices effortlessly engaging for all our customers. We are creating an experience that understands why and when customers engage with different types of contents or take different actions, and build our products to foresee and satisfy those needs. We are building the capabilities to give Amazon devices the ability to help customers discover and find all types of relevant information and contents through conversational interactions, suggestions, and personalized recommendations. We use state-of-the-art foundational technologies that enable an intelligent customer experience leveraging advanced deep learning and large language models, generative AI, and privacy-preserving machine learning on device.

As an Applied Scientist you will contribute to the design, development and improvement of AI / ML models and systems for different products. In this role, you will be expected to :

Work with Applied Scientists, Data Scientists, ML Engineers and product partners to design and deliver AI / ML solutions in production at scale.

Design and develop AI / ML models, workflows and end-to-end pipelines for data preparation, training, deployment, monitoring, etc., and ensure the quality of architecture and design of our ML models and systems.

Deliver customer facing and / or underlying AI / ML solutions that empower our devices to provide the best experience for our customers.

Basic Qualifications

PhD, or a Master's degree and experience in CS, CE, ML or related field

Experience in building models for business application

Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

Experience in any of the following areas : algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using Unix / Linux

Experience in professional software development
