Collection Specialist – Amcor
Position : Collection Specialist within the BG Finance & IT Controlling function of Amcor Flexibles EMEA, focusing on cash collection of customer debts.
Location
Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic or Poland (selected sites only).
Job Overview
Cash collection of customer debts on time. The role drives cash flow improvement, reduces DSO, bad‑debt write‑offs and overdue levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily follow‑up of late payments.
- Identify and address payment profile issues, proactively improving on‑time payment.
- Active contact with customers regarding outstanding amounts, aiming for a minimum of 15 contacts per day.
- Collaborate with credit specialists, sales, customer service, and finance teams.
- Maintain the FSCM database and distribute statements & dunning letters according to the collection strategy.
- Pre‑due calling to resolve administrative issues before due dates.
- Resolve disputed invoices, collect root‑cause data and support rectification.
- Track and report claims / disputes with customer, sales and quality departments to reduce payment delays.
- Update CSI and develop customer intelligence.
- Provide early‑warning signals, on‑time reporting of payment problems and behavioural changes.
- Accurately administer customer accounts, claims, disputes, agreements and contact data.
- Report key reasons for non‑payment and escalate issues to the Collection Manager and Credit Managers.
- Report payment‑term discrepancies and top‑20 customers per site.
- Follow up on urgent actions for blocked accounts.
Major Challenges & Complexities
Multiple internal sales and finance teams across sites.Multiple commercial teams and cross‑site coordination.Large allocated customer portfolio.Regular interaction with BG Credit Director, Collection Coordinator, BU Credit Managers and Collection Process Manager.Key account managers and sales representatives.Qualifications & Requirements
Formal qualifications and experience in collections and customer‑facing activities.Strong affinity with collections; ability to use job‑related software tools – SAP & FSCM.Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Cross‑functional, cross‑site, cross‑cultural collaboration.Basic accounting knowledge and good numerical understanding.Fluency in English and at least one of the following : French, Polish, Dutch, German, Turkish (priority).Results oriented, outstanding persuasion and negotiation skills.Initiative, resilience, teamwork and attention to detail.Ability to communicate and receive best practice ideas.Work independently and in a structured manner.About Amcor
