About the Role : This role will establish and implement consistent workflows, policies, and procedures for Surety across the International offices. It will also involve guiding and training underwriting support staff while monitoring operational and quality standards. Additionally, this position has the potential to evolve into a leadership role, offering a clear career progression path.
About the Department & Team : Liberty Mutual Surety is the leading global surety provider. In the US, we have a team of 100 underwriting assistants and 17 managers. We are establishing a similar organization internationally that offers robust underwriting support in collaboration with brokers to ensure exceptional service delivery. There are 50 International underwriting assistants. Our team promotes an open and collaborative work environment where individuals are encouraged to ask questions and seek guidance.
Key Responsibilities Research and Analysis : Conduct research to understand best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards relevant to policy development.
Drafting Policies : Write clear, concise, and comprehensive policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
Training and Support : Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff about new or revised policies and procedures.
Communication : Effectively communicate changes in policies to all relevant parties and ensure understanding and compliance.
Review and Revise : Regularly review existing policies and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and effective, making revisions as needed.
Best Practices : Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in policy development and management.
Reporting : Prepare reports for senior management on the status of policy initiatives, compliance, and any issues that arise.
Compliance Monitoring : Establish methods for monitoring adherence to policies and procedures and identify areas of non-compliance or improvement.
Regulatory Adherence : Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements and demonstrate behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, aligning with Liberty Values and customer focus. Understand responsibilities related to regulatory and internal requirements, and proactively demonstrate compliance with these at all times, including Senior Managers and Certification Regime Conduct Rules, Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing.
Skills and Experience Good level of knowledge of systems and processes within a business support team
Demonstrable experience in driving superior results
Experience with core systems used in the underwriting process
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
Excellent analytical and numerical proficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with diplomacy, good judgement, and discretion
Excellent influencing and presentation skills, with the ability to present to and advise senior stakeholders
Ability to adapt and produce workable solutions that meet immediate demands
Extensive critical thinking and decision-making skills
Ability to adapt well through change
Fluency in English is required; Spanish is desirable
