Manager, Trade Operations & Compliance – EMEA
Location : Madrid, Spain (Hybrid – 3 days / week on-site)
Duration : 40 hours / week
Reports to : Associate Director, Global Trade & Compliance
We’re seeking a Trade Operations & Compliance Manager to support international trade activities across the EMEA region. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring regulatory compliance for import / export operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving operational excellence.
What You’ll Do
Oversee trade compliance processes for international shipments, ensuring alignment with EMEA regulations and local laws
Manage customs-related activities for materials including drug substances, drug products, APIs, clinical supplies, lab equipment, and consumables
Provide technical guidance on customs topics such as classification, valuation, origin, and export controls
Lead audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews
Maintain accurate trade documentation and records in line with regulatory requirements
Collaborate with internal teams (Legal, Logistics, Tax, Production Planning) and external partners (customs brokers, vendors)
Support process improvements and new compliance initiatives
Interface with government regulatory agencies as needed
Deliver performance metrics and ensure standardized international trade procedures are implemented
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5–7+ years of regional trade & compliance experience, ideally within pharma, biotech, or chemicals (other industries considered for exceptional profiles)
Strong knowledge of import / export regulations, bonded warehouses, special regimens, and 3PLs
Experience with SAP GTS and SAP Fiori
Familiarity with GDPR and global compliance frameworks
Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multinational environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Candidates should be based near Madrid.
