Thoughtworks is looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join our team in Spain, working both locally and globally to ensure the health and safety of Thoughtworkers.
As part of the global Workplace Operations & Experience function, you will have an extraordinary impact on Thoughtworkers in our City Hubs (Physical Offices), Community Hubs, and remote locations. You will collaborate with local People Teams and peers to develop and implement best practice health and safety strategies that go beyond legal compliance to foster a strong safety culture.
This role combines strategy and execution, ideal for someone with extensive domain expertise seeking to broaden their impact.
Job Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor health & safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with Spanish legislation (e.g., Ley de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales 31 / 1995) and EU regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and workplace inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.
Stay updated on changes in HSE legislation and best practices to ensure compliance.
Define and contribute to the global H&S strategy, supporting its implementation at all locations, including audits and record-keeping.
Job Qualifications Technical Skills Design and deliver health & safety training programs for all employee levels, covering emergency response, first aid, ergonomics, and safe work practices.
Promote a safety culture through awareness campaigns and safety committees.
Lead safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
Maintain incident reports and trends, ensuring proper reporting to authorities.
Act as the main contact for health & safety matters within the organization.
Coordinate with various functions to embed HSE practices into daily operations and manage external audits and inspections.
Develop emergency response plans and oversee crisis management and fire safety measures.
Professional Skills University degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) and a Master’s in Occupational Risk Prevention.
Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor are highly desirable.
Specialization in Occupational Safety, Ergonomics, and Psychosocial Risks.
At least 3-4 years of experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably in a large or global organization.
Strong knowledge of Spanish and EU health & safety regulations.
Experience with risk assessments, audits, and investigations.
Excellent communication skills to influence and engage employees at all levels.
Fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
