In ARQUIMEA SPACE, we develop spaceflight parts and equipment for satellites and launchers. We are seeking a Senior Mechanisms Engineer responsible for leading the technical development of high-reliability space mechanisms and mechanical systems, covering all product lifecycle stages from conception to serial production. The role involves identifying and defining new products based on market, customer, and internal needs.
Key Tasks :
Understand user and market needs to produce detailed technical specifications, including requirements derivation and maintenance.
Provide technical leadership on mechanisms product development projects.
Define development strategies in collaboration with project managers and technical teams.
Establish top-level architectures and interfaces for products under development.
Coordinate with specialists across engineering disciplines and identify cross-area needs.
Oversee key technical designs, analyses, trade-offs, and preliminary concepts.
Lead design, analysis, and validation of mechanisms, including testing and verification.
Author clear technical reports and documentation, demonstrating expertise in mechanisms design and manufacturing.
Support testing campaigns and develop prototypes for validation, adhering to space standards.
Maintain excellent relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Assist in preparing technical proposals and bids.
Occasional travel may be required.
Candidate Profile :
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Telecommunication, or Industrial Engineering with relevant space industry experience.
Minimum of 5 years' experience with high-reliability space mechanisms.
Knowledge of Systems Engineering lifecycle, verification, and validation processes.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and work independently.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience with motors, gearboxes, tribology, and space materials.
Mechanical systems modeling, sizing, and critical element identification skills.
Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and finite element analysis tools (Nastran / Patran preferred).
Basic electrical / electronic knowledge.
Fluent in English and Spanish; eligible to work in the EU and willing to travel to the US.
The position is based at our headquarters in Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid.
