About the role
As part of the Safety / Toxicology Team at a leading cosmetics industry company, the individual will focus on ensuring the safety of cosmetic products and their ingredients. The activities encompass evaluating the potential toxicity of ingredients, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Provide expert advice, contributing to research and development efforts related to new methodologies for cosmetic toxicology.
Essentials Responsibilities :
- Manage the Third-Party Manufacturing (TPM) projects and review TPM documentation (PIF, raw material and formula information, vendor certificates) to support product launch on a fast-moving timeline.
- Represent the Safety Department as the primary point of contact for Product Development / PMO organizations in the AP / DO and Color Cosmetics categories, providing safety direction and support.
- Apply non-testing approaches aided by computational tools (chemical category, read-across, and (Q)SAR) to support novel ingredients' safety assessment.
- Serve as the internal expert on the safety assessment of raw material ingredients. Conduct safety assessments on raw material ingredients and prepare comprehensive safety assessment reports in accordance with SCCS guidelines as needed.
- Support TPM product registration worldwide.
- Prepare a Product Information File (PIF) package in accordance with the EU Cosmetics Regulation.
- Review product safety for its intended use and determine the appropriate in vitro and clinical studies to substantiate safety. Utilize read-across methods to waive safety testing when applicable.
- Monitor safety testing spending and recommend cost savings as appropriate.
- Provide training and coaching to junior personnel on safety functions.
- Conduct a literature review and impact assessment on controversial safety and regulatory issues and provide recommendations to the management.
- Attend and present at the scientific meetings (e.g., SOT, SETAC, and others).
- Stay current with new developments in science and apply innovative concepts and methodologies to support the assessment of raw material safety. New approach methodologies.
- As needed, represent Revlon on trade organization scientific committees.
- Strong communication skills are essential both in writing and speaking. Comfortable with developing recommendations and presenting to Leadership levels.
- Excellent problem-solving skills. Able to identify options and recommend the best course of action to Management.

University studies, Master's, Doctorate / Cosmetic or Chemical Industries, highly recommendedFamiliarity with regulatory requirements for cosmetic safetyWell organized and flexible with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyExpertise in general toxicology concepts, especially skin / eye irritation, skin sensitization, and other areas of toxicology, is also desirable.Fluent in English.
