Business Analyst

For REWE digital Spain a subsidiary of the REWE Group, located at Parque Tecnológico de Andalucia (PTA) in Malaga we are looking for an Business Analyst for the Financial Accounting and Asset Management team.

As the central solution provider for information and telecommunications systems in REWE Digital Spain we plan, develop, configure, and operate efficient systems and applications for the REWE Group, one of the leading trade and tourism groups in Germany and Europe with around 390,000 employees. Our team of over 2,200 IT specialists sets standards for IT implementation in the retail industry and develops new technologies for the sector. Currently, we manage more than 80 logistics centers, 100 wide area network cables, and over 23,000 local network connections to ensure continuous data supply to the 32,000 scanner check-out desks in more than 7,500 stores.

The product Accounting & Asset-Management covers topics related to general ledger accounting and asset accounting.

General ledger accounting documents and analyzes business transactions that occur within a company, such as income from services, material purchases, labor costs, impairment of assets due to wear and tear, and much more. Records are kept in chronological order. Taken as a whole, general ledger accounting forms the basis for profit determination, quarterly financial statements, and annual financial statements. It integrates the various subledgers (accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, etc.) into a general ledger.

What you will do

• You will make the difference, because you actively contribute to the steady development of our SAP systems each day and drive our cloud transformation to S4 / Hana by configuring and customizing applications – as always at our company, the motto is : Trying is better than studying! You are not afraid to try out an idea without knowing every detail and see potential failure as a learning opportunity.
• You stay on top of things and keep a constant eye on the quality of our IT solutions. This enables you to work closely with the specialist departments to come up with valuable ideas for further improvements. You play an active role in the resulting projects for the further development of the IT landscape and drive innovation forward, covering topics such as :
• Document types, number ranges, and open item clearing for high transaction volumes
• Attaching documents to FI-postings and ensuring proper archiving for audit and compliance
• Document splitting and default profit center assignment for multi-brand and multi-country operations
• You design the best IT solutions, whether for large-scale projects or small change requests from the departments, by aligning the requirements of stakeholders, technical requirements of our SAP systems and projects, and requirements of our general IT strategy including security-relevant aspects
• Design and implement solutions using Business Transaction Events for custom processes and support the transition of e-Document functionalities in S / 4HANA to comply with European regulations.
• Ensure readiness for SAF-T- related digital compliance in new systems and contribute to defining the Advanced Financial Closing strategy in S / 4HANA .
• Improve the Intercompany Matching and Reconciliation process during and after migration, also managing VAT, withholding tax, and tax disclosures with S / 4HANA tools such as Tax Compliance and Document & Reporting Compliance.
• Oversee integration topics for FI-postings initiated by external systems—from traditional IDocs to modern APIs fitting our retail and travel tech stack
• Apply your knowledge of extended asset accounting processes , supporting everything from store investments to digital assets
• Ensure a smooth transition of Asset Accounting functions to S / 4HANA, including parallel valuation, asset lifecycles, and integration with controlling
• Support fixed asset processes across multiple countries and legal entities , taking into account local GAAP, IFRS, and group-wide reporting requirements
