Overview The Challenge

As the VP of data, you'll lead our talented team and data strategy, and help us delve deeply into understanding our users' behaviors, establishing reliable metrics, and tracking product enhancements to improve user experiences.

At Wallapop we process daily over 4TB of data, consisting of around 1B data points, we leverage a modern data stack, including mParticle, Optimizely, Fivetran, DBT, DataHub, MonteCarlo, Airflow, Looker, Amplitude.. All within the AWS Cloud (Redshift, SageMaker) to serve over 200 data users across the organization (from product, business, and tech) powering over 1k analytical dashboards and tens of data and ML product features.

Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will develop people, cultivate strong partnerships with Product, Business, and Technology leaders, and help infuse every decision with the right blend of relevant evidence, metrics, insights, and data. Your team will employ a variety of methods to gain insights into user behavior, evaluate potential product initiatives, and generate innovative ideas alongside the Product team.

What You Will Do Strategic Vision and Leadership :

Architect and reinforce a strategic vision for directing multiple data cohorts, comprising approximately 30 professionals, spanning various sectors including Insights (User Research, Product Analytics), Machine Learning (Data Scientists and ML Engineers), and Data Platform (Data Engineers).Prioritize scalability, reliability, and effectiveness in formulating and executing a comprehensive data strategy harmonized with Wallapop’s business objectives.

Cutting-Edge Data Solutions :

Lead the development and execution of a resilient data infrastructure for distilling meaningful insights driving strategic decision-making. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data processes. Champion the adoption of state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies in user research, product analytics, data architecture, machine learning, experimentation, AI technologies, data platform, and data modeling concepts.

Collaboration and Integration :

Lead collaborative methodologies with technical and non-technical teams throughout the organization to comprehend data requisites and synchronize product evolution, analytics, data science, and ML with company goals.Pioneer initiatives for continual enhancement to augment the efficiency and efficacy of data procedures, establishing benchmarks for the output delivered by the Data team, optimizing for expeditious, efficient, and meticulous execution.

Innovation and Best Practices :

Create and promote a culture of continuous improvement, and ways of working to elevate the team’s impact across the organization Advocate for best practices in data, articulating insights and recommendations to key decision-makers to plan and execute impactful product initiatives.

What We’re Looking For Technical Proficiency :

Experience as a people manager in a strong product insights and data organization, ideally with experience building and shaping teams. Proficiency in technical skills to mentor team members in appropriate methodologies, communication styles, and collaboration techniques.Although not required to have comprehensive expertise in every area, having a broad understanding of methodologies such as human behavior analysis, statistical analysis, machine learning, survey methodology, qualitative data collection methods, experimental design, deployment and analysis of AB tests, experimental design, setting instrumentation, data processing and data governance practices would be a plus.

Leadership and Effective Collaboration and Communication :

Adaptable mindset equipped with the ability to make tough decisions through ambiguity and uncertainty in a dynamic and fast-paced. Comfortable going deep when needed and rolling up the sleeves if required. You excel at managing teams in product insights and data organizations, fostering team synergy, collaboration and a strong ability to upskill people to achieve strategic objectives.

Expertise in Personalization-Driven Products :

Proven experience working on products with a heavy emphasis on personalization is highly valued.
