Overview

The VHIR Communication Unit is part of the Communication, Corporate Strategy, and Citizen Assistance Department of the Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus. Its main objective is to raise awareness of the research carried out at Vall d’Hebron across all areas and in all its forms. It communicates the institution’s scientific achievements and milestones to the general public via website, social media, and other media channels, including press releases, conferences, interviews, videos, communication campaigns, and a wide range of written and audiovisual materials. It also ensures internal communication of research activities, publications, and updates to all personnel across the Campus, using internal bulletins, the intranet, and social media. Additionally, it produces a key institutional tool that audits and presents the scientific output of the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), including a multimedia version of the report. The unit contributes to the internationalisation of the institution by providing content in English and fostering stronger ties with international media. It organises institutional events such as scientific seminars, workshops, and the annual conference, and leads science communication initiatives to engage society, including participation in science fairs and outreach activities aimed at younger audiences and increasing public awareness.
