Senior Infrastructure Engineer

IMPORTANT : This is a part-time, independent contractor role for individuals in the UTC-3 to UTC+2 time zones

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to take over our infrastructure and ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of the platform. We operate a monolithic Ruby on Rails application backed by MySQL, which handles hundreds of thousands of transactions per day.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving infrastructure challenges, has deep experience with MySQL performance and scaling, and wants to play a key role in helping the company evolve towards a more robust architecture.

We’re looking for someone who can take full ownership of our infrastructure and proactively suggest improvements. You will work closely with the engineering team to ensure everything runs smoothly and can grow at the pace the company requires.

Responsibilities

• Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in both application and infrastructure.
• Maintaining and evolving the infrastructure that supports our Rails application.
• Managing, scaling, and optimizing our MySQL databases.
• Analyzing and improving database queries, indexing strategies, and schema design.
• Designing and maintaining infrastructure as code.
• Implementing high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
• Classifying alerts and implementing incident response procedures.
• Ensuring effective monitoring and alerting systems are in place.
• Supporting and improving CI / CD pipelines and automation workflows.
• Promoting a culture of reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
• You’ll be the main point of contact for infrastructure decisions, working closely with our backend engineers.
