This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an On-Board Software Engineer - (9 month contract) in the European Union .

As an On-Board Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of software for satellite-based systems and space applications. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge embedded systems that support positioning, connectivity, planetary observation, and spacecraft exploration. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, taking ownership of software architecture, specifications, and development cycles. The position combines technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and Agile practices to deliver high-quality, reliable software solutions for complex space systems. Responsibilities

Define software specifications from system requirements and develop embedded software architecture.
Monitor and manage the entire embedded software development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
Identify, prioritize, and assign software development tasks following Agile methodology.
Coordinate closely with other engineering teams, including system, hardware, firmware, and validation.
Lead the creation of technical documentation and participate in project reviews with customers.
Contribute to bid proposals and provide technical expertise during client interactions.

Qualifications

Degree in software engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, telecommunications, industrial engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field; advanced degree or equivalent experience is a plus.

At least 5 years of experience in real-time embedded software development.

Knowledge of the V-model software development cycle and system-level understanding, including embedded systems.

Experience with Agile methodology and ECSS processes.

Excellent communication skills in English; additional fluency in Spanish or French is advantageous.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and adapt to complex, high-stakes projects.
