Experimental Physicist - Detector Systems Engineer

Deep Detection design and manufacture photon counting X-ray detectors for a global client base to enhance detection outcomes across the industrial inspection and sorting sectors. Role Description

This is a specialist role in a deeply technical field which bridges the performance and characterisation of the latest generation of X-ray detectors to design for manufacturing. The System Engineer works alongside colleagues from electrical, mechanical and software engineering to develop prototype systems that meet the lead user requirements and are suitable for scale manufacturing. The role is based on site at the company headquarters and requires some travel to research facilities.

Responsibilities

• Characterisation of individual system elements including high-Z semiconductor detectors
• Characterisation of complete devices comprising 1-D and 2-D sensor arrays
• Optimise system parameters for performance across different industrial applications
• Experimental design, statistical measurement and data analysis
• Collaboration with technology teams to refine pixelated readout parameters
• Collaboration with product teams to design for manufacture
