Sr DevOps Engineer Messaging & Automation (Level 3 (Senior) Madrid, Spain - (Hybrid)

12+ Months Contract - Potential extension

(40% of remote - 60% in the office)

Position Overview :

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer to join our MQ team in Spain. This role focuses on maintaining and optimizing our messaging infrastructure with IBM MQ technologies. You’ll work in a dynamic environment, supporting mission-critical messaging systems, automating operational tasks, and occasionally developing with SpringBoot. Participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation (one week at a time) is required to ensure system reliability.

Key Requirements : Mandatory :

  • Proven System Engineer background
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • General knowledge of messaging concepts (e.G. JMS)
  • Understanding of and desire for task automation (APIs, expect scripts, Jenkins, etc.)

Preferred :

  • SpringBoot / react development experience
  • Experience with APIs and automation scripting (expect scripts)
  • Jenkins knowledge
  • Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic Stack (monitoring / observability tools)

    • Technical Skills & Technology Stack :

  • IBM MQ (main focus) on hardware appliances
  • Jenkins
  • Grafana / Prometheus / Elastic Stack
  • Expect scripts
  • SpringBoot (bonus)

    • Key Responsibilities :

  • Maintain and optimize IBM MQ messaging infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain a SpringBoot / React self-service application (if applicable)
  • Implement automation for operational tasks (using APIs, expect scripts, Jenkins)
  • Monitor system health using Grafana, Prometheus, and Elastic Stack
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and respond to incidents as required
  • Troubleshoot and resolve messaging system issues
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless messaging service delivery.
