Our team designs, develops, and manages applications and infrastructure that support Akamai's Compute products and services. We do this while maintaining Akamai's mission at the forefront of what we do : make life better for billions of people, billions of times a day.

As a Senior II SRE, you will specialize in creating solutions that improve automation and efficiencies across all internal teams. You will drive automation, operational excellence, and support our customer-facing applications and infrastructure. This will require creative thinking combined with deep domain expertise in the areas of Linux systems administration, configuration management, performance tuning, and hardware engineering.

As a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for :

Providing support and mentorship for other Linux engineers within the department

Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence the new designs and standards

Providing support, leadership, and motivation for project teams

Collaborating with our support, operations, and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems

Improving our system monitoring and analysis platform to speed error detection and remediation, enhancing performance and reliability

To be successful in this role you will :

Demonstrate at least LFCS certificate level of knowledge. Certificate is not required, but knowledge is mandatory

Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Engineering, Computer Science or its equivalent

Possess expert level experience in an SRE, DevOps, Development, or SysAdmin role working with large scale distributed systems

Possess deep knowledge of Linux Kernel, performance tuning, hardening services; knowledge about QEMU will be great

Possess at least one programming language (Python / Golang) and configuration management with Terraform / SaltStack

Have experience with architecting software, and infrastructure at scale

Be able to work in alignment with strategic business initiatives and coordinate the work of other engineers

Possess informed opinions on technology and software design to bring to the table
