Lead Strategic Financial Communications at a Global Agency in Madrid
Our client, a leading global strategic communications consultancy, is looking for an outstanding Senior Account Director to join their Financial Communications team in Madrid. This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-level advisory work for some of the most recognised financial and corporate institutions across Spain, Europe, and beyond. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for someone with deep expertise in capital markets, investor relations, and corporate reputation who thrives on delivering strategic counsel in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. You will be at the helm of a growing Financial Communications practice, working closely with C-suite executives, investment professionals, and legal advisers to develop and implement integrated communications programmes that inform markets, influence opinion, and protect and promote corporate value.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as senior strategic advisor on financial communications and corporate reputation to key clients, including CEOs, CFOs, General Counsels, and Heads of IR / Comms
- Lead and expand a growing Madrid-based Financial Communications team with a European and global outlook
- Develop and execute integrated communications strategies around transactions (M&A, IPOs, restructuring), earnings, investor engagement, and regulatory positioning
- Manage complex client portfolios and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality advisory and execution across retained and project work
- Foster and mentor a high-performing client team, encouraging a collaborative and ambitious culture
- Lead on new business activity including proposal development, networking, and pitching, with a clear focus on commercial growth
- Build and maintain strong relationships with national and international financial and business media
- Collaborate with colleagues across practices such as ESG, public affairs, and digital to provide clients with comprehensive and innovative communications solutions
What They’re Looking For
Proven experience at Account Director / Senior Account Director level or equivalent within financial or corporate communications, consultancy, or mediaDeep understanding of capital markets, regulatory environments, and financial media – ideally with experience in Spain or wider Southern EuropeExperience advising senior business leaders during critical moments including IPOs, transactions, crisis situations, and earnings announcementsStrong commercial acumen, with a track record of winning and growing client accountsExcellent verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and EnglishWell-developed network across financial services, legal, and media communitiesConfident, adaptable, and collaborative, with a solutions-focused mindsetA natural leader and mentor, capable of inspiring both clients and colleaguesBenefits
