Senior Database Specialist - PostgreSQL (Azure)

Start date asap 1 year engagement.

Senior level DBA experience (5 years) supporting Production Applications on PostgreSQL (Azure) & Microsoft s SQL Server platforms in a high pressure environment (e.g. Trading)

Contract details

EU passport holder with remote or hybrid with a requirement to travel and work on-site in Switzerland or Spain for approximately one week every five weeks.

Responsibilities

• Act as single point of contact & coordinate PostgreSQL (Azure) topics for the Database Services Team
• Define the best practice setup configuration and operation of PostgreSQL (Azure) systems for maximum security stability and performance
• Operating, managing & supporting PostgreSQL (Azure) & Microsoft SQL Server (on premise & Azure) solutions
• Implement and advise on Industry standard best practice and creative database solutions
• Work closely with Operations Development and Business teams to identify operational & performance issues
• Participate in the testing delivery and deployment of database improvements through the software development lifecycle and into production
• Use internal and external monitoring tools to identify trends in technical system performance
• Proactively lead and own database problems and incidents to resolution
• Implement alerting and processes to prevent and identify database issues to reduce operational and business impact
• Document and share knowledge to increase the overall technical understanding of the Operations and Development teams
• Communicate and cooperate with vendors on issue resolution
