About the SDSN UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) mobilizes the world’s academic and research institutes and leverages their strengths to help realize the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. It has been operating under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General since 2012. The SDSN pursues its mission by working with member institutions in countries around the world, organized into networks at the national and regional level. Each network focuses on distinct projects and priorities in line with their local contexts and challenges. In their respective countries and regions, SDSN’s networks of universities, research centers, and other knowledge institutions translate the latest expertise in sustainable development into action by : Promoting high-quality education and research collaboration for sustainable development Localizing and mobilizing support for the SDGs, including supporting governments in understanding and addressing the challenges of sustainable development Vetting and launching solution initiatives, including supporting the preparation of long-term pathways SDSN Europe and European Projects The SDSN Europe initiative coordinates the action of SDSN’s networks in Europe, including research and policy advice that can support the alignment of the European recovery and the European Green Deal with the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement. The SDSN also contributes to several innovative Horizon 2020 projects funded by the European Commission such as Impetus, Arsinoe and TransfomAr. These projects aim to demonstrate solutions and pathways to achieve rapid and far-reaching transformational adaptation to climate change. The SDSN Networks Team is looking for a highly qualified and motivated candidate to support the work of the team with these European projects as a Program Associate based out of the SDSN Paris office. The position will allow the successful candidate to gain and improve their project management, policy analysis, and technical skills in an international environment. Program Associate will report to the SDSN Europe Manager in Paris. Tasks and Responsibilities Project Management Assist the work of SDSN Europe with research, coordination, communication materials, and mobilization of resources Research and analyze relevant information on European sustainable development policies and draft content for internal and external use Support reporting on ongoing projects, drafting of new project proposals and application processes Communication and Events Support the management of communication channels (websites, social media, SDSN membership platform) Support the dissemination of publications and research findings Support the organization of in person and online meetings and events Other Support the Networks team by carrying out other tasks, as needed Occasional travel to attend meetings and events in France and abroad Eligibility The candidate must have the right to work in France. Candidate Profile Advanced degree in sustainable development, political sciences, or another related discipline, with a specialization in European affairs Previous experience working on European issues (internships included) Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills in English. Familiarity with the Agenda 2030, Sustainable Development Goals, and the Paris Climate Agreement and strong interest in sustainable development Solid IT skills and ability to work with Word, Excel, PPT, Google Suite, Zoom as well as with different platforms (e.g. : Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, Wordpress, Airtable) Ability to work in a multicultural environment Professional capacity in French and other languages would be an advantage Duration We offer a 12-month contract (with the possibility of extension) that will be administered by the SDSN Association Paris.
