Description : From Acertto, we are looking for an experienced Innovation Engineer. During the final, crucial phase of product development, you find out on site that the new machine line cannot deliver the right lid. All crucial functions had been tested and validated at your Fibercenter in Leeuwarden, yet you were prepared for the possibility of further adjustments in the final production line. The 'click' is not there, that is; there should be a click when the lid is pressed on the cup. Together with your colleagues, you decide to put the prepared backup plan into action. You adjust the moulds and still manage to achieve the required "click". The customer, a large global player in the food industry, is fully satisfied, and together with your colleagues, you look back on a successful project. You have done it again, that makes you proud and gives you a satisfied feeling. This project in Germany is running smoothly. And now people all over the world can enjoy their drink responsibly, because this cup doesn't have a plastic lid, but a fiber one. A sustainable choice.

Innovative and sustainable

We are Huhtamaki Fiber Technology, the international R&D center and machine line developer of the major packaging group Huhtamaki. With passion, we develop machine lines that make it possible to produce sustainable packaging for, among others, the food industry. We have a modern test center, a pilot plant, and various other departments under one roof. And it's all about innovation, sustainable innovation! Not only because our customers and end users from the global retail market demand it every day, but also because we ourselves strive for a world with sustainable packaging materials. A good example is our Fresh project, in which we developed fully compostable packaging for ready-to-eat meals. What does your working day look like?

Huhtamaki Fiber Technology is growing fast. We are looking for an experienced Innovation Engineer who wants to grow with us, for our plant in Valencia (Spain). Your role is quite diverse and no two projects will be the same. However, you often start the day with a team meeting. Today, the kick-off of a new project is central. In this project, you will be working with a partner doing co-development with Huhtamaki Fiber Technology. With the team of experts, you determine how and when the solution can be delivered. After handling a few important phone calls, you enter a Teams meeting with a customer. In this meeting, you talk about the current project, the technical issues, and you give further technical advice. Based on test and validation results, you advise the team of project managers and present a proof of concept. Finally, you check with a colleague whether your trip has been booked yet, because in two weeks' time you're going to visit a mould maker in France to assess whether they could be a strategic partner for Huhtamaki.

What else comes up in your position?

You play an important role in concept choices and do reviews with the Concept Engineers. Together with your colleagues, you determine where you are going with the building blocks. You are involved in brainstorming during the concept phases, but also in the design and development of (potentially) new products for Huhtamaki Fiber Technology. You work together with both internal and external staff and are the technical conscience of the R&D project manager. In this role, you will be 70% innovative technician and 30% project leader.
