The mission of this role is to design and implement a positive impact strategy for the biomethane business in Spain and Italy through the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria across the entire biomethane value chain. Design, implement, and update Verdalia Bioenergy’s ESG strategy, focusing on a positive impact approach for our portfolio of biomethane plants and projects.
Develop ESG criteria for critical suppliers and commercial partners, and draft a Supplier Code of Conduct.
Ensure effective integration of ESG and positive impact criteria into corporate decision-making and into project development and operations.
Ensure, together with the engineering, development, HR, and legal departments, that the ESG, positive impact, and taxonomy strategies are fully implemented.
Actively collaborate with the IT department on projects to digitalize sustainability-related information for Verdalia’s assets, creating automated systems for data collection and robust reporting.
Serve as the main point of contact for shareholders, financial institutions, and public bodies at the local, regional, national, and EU levels on ESG matters.
Prepare updates for the Group’s Board of Directors on ESG performance and initiatives.
Act as the key ESG contact for strategic commercial partners, in collaboration with the commercial departments.
Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, development, IT, EHS, certification, legal, compliance, and finance) to ensure ESG consistency across all areas.
Coordinate the preparation of sustainability reports and non-financial disclosures for investors and financial institutions.
Supervise ESG data collection and traceability processes.
Identify ESG risks and opportunities in biomethane and biofertilizer projects.
Conduct social and environmental impact assessments.
Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology, Economics, Law, or a related field. A master’s degree or specialized training in Sustainability, ESG, or CSR will be highly valued.
At least 5 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or environmental compliance roles, ideally within the energy, renewables, waste management, or agri-industry sectors.
Proficiency in ESG reporting tools and data analysis.
