The opportunity
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Senior Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of the affiliate / cluster MSL team, including recruitment and individual / team development. The role provides functional expertise and linkage to the regional and divisional teams and a wide therapeutic and product knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
To achieve success, it is critical that the MSL manager :
- Understands the broader business strategy and provides scientific support to enable compliant delivery aligned with the medical plan.
- Is an integral part of the medical and brand team, contributing to the development of the brand and medical plan through provision of insights and expertise.
- Works effectively in a collaborative manner with sales, marketing, market access, HEOR, clinical development and other relevant teams to achieve business goals.
- Responsible for decisions around team resourcing and working practices of the MSLs across the relevant therapy areas.
- Works closely with cluster, EU and global therapy area leads and EU MSL head to achieve best outcomes for the function, therapy area and the cluster.
- Ensures that the MSL team leverages a variety of channels, including digital, to engage with external stakeholders, in line with Teva internal policy to maximize customer experience.
- Fosters personal accountability and ownership of individual and team success.
How you’ll spend your day
Reporting directly to the Cluster Medical Head / Medical Affairs Director, the Medical Science Liaison Senior Manager will perform the following duties :
1. People Management
Driving excellence & strategy across the MSL team by assisting in development and oversight of field activities, ensuring attainment of stated goals and providing continuous reports and activities to management and business partners.Develops, coaches and motivates the MSLs and is ultimately responsible for the consistency and delivery of induction, training and ongoing coaching of new staff to ensure a high caliber team.Selects, recruits and retains high caliber staff and provides the environment for innovation, creativity and makes self-development the core team focus.Drives cross-functional team working relations across the MSL team.Budget responsibility of the MSL team within the cluster.2. Therapy area and brand support
Leads and prioritizes the MSL team objectives and inputs into the medical plan and other relevant plans such as the Go to market plan (GTMAP).Ensures consistency of communication, objectives, expectations, resourcing, reporting (Veeva system) across all therapy areas with regards to MSLs.Agrees with brand teams (commercial and medical) the overall brand support required from the local MSLs.Leads the MSL function to deliver ongoing and future value to the business through strong organizational, analytical skills and results-oriented approach.Works closely with the CSU at affiliate and cluster level to deliver the clinical trial program aligned to the medical plan.Collaborates with the EU and global medical affairs teams to coordinate & disseminate information and share best practices.Supports and coordinates the design and implementation of medical action plans in line with the brand medical strategy.Creates an environment where their team members actively work towards providing excellent customer experience with customers at the heart of their activities.Facilitates partnership working with key internal and external stakeholders.Acts as a sponsor and advocate to ensure that Teva MSLs are recognized as “best in class” valuable partners both internally and externally.3. Maintain compliance :
Has an excellent understanding of the local and regional code of practice (such as the ABPI / EFPIA) including but not restricted to maintaining high professional standards of conduct in line with relevant Teva policies and procedures, with a duty of care to the reputation of the organization.Ensures that the team operates in a compliant fashion at all times, and performs relevant audits (as and when necessary) to ensure the same.Key working relationships

Cross-functional collaboration with :
Wider medical affairs team including cluster, regional and global team members.Wider commercial organization including members of the sales, marketing and other appropriate commercial members.Market access, Health Outcomes, Government affairs, Clinical Studies Unit and other relevant field or office-based team members.2. Externally
Regular contacts with appropriate Healthcare Professionals, Healthcare Organizations, Patient Organizations (as per local guidance), investigator sites, academic institutions and other relevant clinical networks.Your experience and qualifications
MD, Pharm D, PhD, or educated to a degree level or equivalent with a scientific qualification.At least 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry as MSL, medical advisor or medical manager. Ideally experienced in managing people.Previous experience / ability to lead, manage and develop field-based team.Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory process, local / national healthcare economy and the pharmaceutical industry code of conduct.Deep understanding and thorough knowledge of the relevant disease area preferred.Fluency in written and spoken English (minimum B2).Excellent communication and presentation skills with an attention to detail.Ability to synthesize complex information, make decisions, communicate it effectively ultimately motivating and leading the team to success.Ability to collaborate and share information to contribute to the planning process and manage execution of the agreed medical plan in line with the brand / therapy area objectives.Excellent interpersonal skills.Knowledge, ability and willingness to drive the team to engage with customers using traditional as well as novel digital channels.Agile and flexible with regards to changing priorities and business needs.
