We are looking for an Engineer to join our Engineering Underwriting Team in Madrid reporting to the Head of Department (Hybrid workplace).

Responsibilities :

  • Risk assessment, pricing, also for complex facultative, Engineering risks (CAR, EAR, CECR, Power) in Spain, Portugal and abroad and stipulation of reinsurance conditions in accordance with underwriting guidelines, internal rules, authorities, targets and client strategies.
  • Acquisition of new business, maintaining and strengthening of existing client relationships. Negotiation with brokers and cedants.
  • Cocreation of new products and solutions with our clients.
  • Achieving planned underwriting results for new and existing business.
  • Administration of acquired portfolio and monitoring of estimates.
  • Analysis of market and individual portfolio potential.
  • Assisting in or leading client audits and internal audits.
  • Assisting treaty colleagues with special acceptances.
  • Assurance of our opinion leadership in Engineering (participation in working groups, speaker in internal and external events, publications).
  • Assuming special tasks, e.g. heading and supporting departmental and intradepartmental working groups and projects.

Your Profile :

  • University degree, preferably in engineering or a science-related discipline.
  • 3-5 years underwriting experience in engineering and power business.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and good mathematical abilities.
  • Exceptional negotiating competence, strong teamwork skills and willingness to share knowledge.
  • Readiness to take ownership, highly self-motivated and target-oriented.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English essential (both spoken and written).
  • Proven intercultural competence and team player in multidisciplinary environments.
