Main Purpose :
The Project Engineer is primarily accountable for :
- The planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects within the terminal, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- This role bridges operational needs with engineering solutions, supporting asset integrity, capacity expansion, and process optimisation while maintaining strict compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Project Planning & DeliveryDevelop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans for terminal infrastructure and process upgrades.Manage the full project lifecycle from concept design through to commissioning and handover.Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives.Technical & Engineering SupportProvide engineering input into the design, modification, and optimisation of bitumen storage tanks, heating systems, pipelines, and loading / unloading facilities.Ensure all designs meet relevant industry standards (API, ASME, EN, ISO) and company specifications.Safety, Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure all projects comply with workplace health and safety regulations, environmental legislation, and terminal-specific safety protocols.Coordinate hazard identification (HAZID) and hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies where required.Maintain a strong focus on process safety, particularly in high-temperature bitumen handling and storage.Requirements :
Tertiary education in an Engineering related discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical preferred)Minimum 5 years’ oil & gas, petrochemical, or bulk liquid storage facilities (bitumen experience highly desirable)Strong knowledge of tank farm operations, heating systems, and pipeline infrastructure.Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.Puma Energy is an equal opportunities employer.
