Position : Field Service Engineer
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for installation, upgrading, repair and preventive maintenance of capital equipment part of Abbott Medical product portfolio in compliance with Abbott Medical code of conduct, Regulator and Quality policies and procedures.
The Capital Equipment Service Engineer services and supports Abbott’s advanced medical technologies and is responsible for driving customer satisfaction through service excellence. It will require working very close with the central dispatch team for scheduling service activities and with local sale and clinical staff to incrase revenues and profitabiliy.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hardware / software field support : includes system installation, maintenance, calibration, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair, also includes demo system maintenance and preparation for congresses.
Work with central dispatch team and local sales / clinical staff on optimal scheduling of field interventions.
Document field service interventions per QA system requirements.
Report capital equipment incidents per QA system requirements.
Provide support and technical assistance for in-house training courses and congresses.
Provide system maintenance and troubleshooting training to customer biomedical engineering departments and Abbott sales and field clinical staff
Extensive International travel required based on ad-hoc request, sometimes with short notice.
EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES
School or University qualifications
Bachelor degree in electronics, engineering or equivalent.
Knowledge and skills (e.g. languages, PC, …)
Minimum of 5 years medical electronics service or related field service.
Strong communication skills : verbal and written.
English is a must, any additional European languages is a plus.
Strong electronic and mechanical skills including troubleshooting.
Computer skills : MSOffice, Windows
Requires occasional lifting of products and material related to installation of the systems.
Familiarity with Cathlab and operating room procedures and protocol would be a plus.
Experience with medical devices and software based medical systems would be a plus.
Natural abilities (teamplayer, stress resistant, discretion, good communicator, etc.)
Ability to be flexible and respond to situations at short notice.
Able to work independently in a fast environment with little supervision
Available to travel very often
