Our team is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager who will support the Spain Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team across all business lines and lead one business line within Spain.
This role is responsible for ensuring strategy and operational tactics are executed by providing technical support for existing operations and future expansion across multiple facilities within their region.
The Environmental Compliance Manager will report to the Country Leader for Spain as part of the SEU and the EU EAP team.
The Environmental Compliance Manager will also partner with the operations leadership teams to execute company environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable country, state / province, regional, and local regulations. Utilizing risk assessments and compliance evaluations, this individual will lead site-specific continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental aspects and impacts and communicate and implement best practices.
This role entails 50% travel to multiple sites across Spain.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage and execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, stormwater, waste, wastewater, and other environmental laws, regulations, and permits, including required country, state / province, and local reporting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with business partners to support their success in environmental compliance, performance, and sustainability initiatives.
- Participate in the development, introduction, control, improvement, and application of environmental management systems, procedures, processes, and products.
- Measure and analyze sites’ performance against published requirements in environmental policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and rectify all deficiencies.
- Coordinate with authorities and implement notification, permission, and approval procedures according to environmental law (water / wastewater, pollution control, waste).
- Participate in annual data collection and reporting (internal and external) as well as controls (measurements, reviews) on environmentally relevant issues.
- Manage environmental risk programs and projects, where the risk is defined, but the business problem and solution may not be.
- Serve as the environmental subject matter expert for your area; stay updated on industry trends (e.g., changing regulations, innovations in risk mitigation, testing mechanisms), and know how to apply them across teams.
- Drive goal and regulation-based control outcomes and risk reduction, helping to establish mechanisms to bring risk within tolerance levels.
- Manage overall schedules for environmental risk mitigation projects, address issues, and keep scope under control.
A day in the life
Every day will be different. You will visit our Spain locations, engage with local teams, and ensure sites and the business are set up for effective environmental compliance. You may work with our Legal Team to engage regulators or help sites deliver environmental training.
The ability to adapt is essential, as priorities change frequently, and the team must respond accordingly.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk / loss prevention, or equivalent.Experience handling confidential information.A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
