Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the Senior DevOps Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to design, develop and deploy software components for on-prem and cloud. This position focuses on providing reusable components to other internal R&D teams to address common requirements such as authentication, observability, and more. The Senior DevOps Engineer will proactively engage with very diverse teams across the company and the world to enable the integration of the libraries within their respective development environments and support common capabilities required for on-prem and cloud deployments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in planning, architecture, and research around on-prem and cloud deployments.
  • Builds, packages, delivers, and maintains open-source and / or in-house software components designed for integration in a C / C++ development environment (e.g. libraries, utilities, CLI, etc.)
  • Can extend existing components to add new capabilities and build an abstraction layer to facilitate the integration by other teams.
  • Provides examples, documentation and technical support related to the software components.
  • Collaborates with software engineering teams to support and extend the CI / CD tooling and pipelines to streamline the delivery and integration of software components.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities.
  • May be responsible for managing interns or co-ops but typically does not have direct reports.
  • Performs complex development activities that may require extensive analysis and design.
  • Collaborates to make the team contribution greater than the sum of the individual contributors.
  • Participate in scrum meetings. Interact constructively with colleagues, providing constructive feedback and insight to support team goals.
  • Propose and implement novel solutions, think “outside the box” and let your ideas be known.

Minimum Education / Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years of commercial experience, MS with 3 years of experience, or PhD with 1 year experience.
  • Expertise in the devops tools used to build and test large software with many dependencies in the C / C++ ecosystem on Windows and Linux (Bazel, CMake, bash scripts, conan, Git).
  • Experience delivering pipelines in environments such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.
  • Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • C / C++, Rust, C#, Python programming language, interoperability between Rust and C / C++.
  • OAuth2, OIDC, KeyCloak, Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • CLI from AWS or Azure.
  • Certifications in relevant cloud technologies such as AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate, or Google Cloud Certified.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous testing.
