Sous Chef Tournant – Luxury Cruise Ship

Onboard Worldwide | 5-Month Contract On / 2 Months Off

USD $3,900 / month (paid onboard only) | Start : ASAP | Shared Cabin Accommodation

We’re looking for a versatile and experienced Sous Chef Tournant to join the culinary brigade of a world-class luxury cruise ship. If you thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy the challenge of leading multiple sections of a fine-dining operation, this opportunity will elevate your career while offering the experience of a lifetime at sea.

Key Details

  • Contract : 5 months onboard / 2 months off
  • Schedule : 10 hours per day, 7 days a week
  • Accommodation : Private single cabin provided
  • Salary : USD $3,900 per month (tax-free, paid only while onboard)
  • Start Date : As soon as possible

About the Role

As Sous Chef Tournant , you will rotate through different sections of the galley, ensuring consistent quality and smooth operations across hot, cold, and specialty areas. Your adaptability, classical culinary skills, and team leadership will play a key role in maintaining the high standards expected in luxury hospitality. You’ll work alongside an international team in a professional, structured, and inspiring kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support various sections of the galley (saucier, entremetier, fish, meat, garde manger, etc.) as needed
  • Supervise, train, and motivate junior chefs in each assigned area
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and sanitation at all times
  • Ensure mise-en-place is efficient and timely for each section you manage
  • Support the Executive and Senior Sous Chef in managing kitchen operations and ensuring smooth service
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to deliver refined cuisine for main dining and specialty restaurants
  • What We’re Looking For

  • Experience :
  • 3+ years in fine dining, luxury hotels, or cruise ships as a Sous Chef or experienced Chef de Partie
  • Strong foundation in classical European techniques (French cuisine preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple sections under pressure
  • Skills & Attributes :
  • Adaptable, proactive, and organized
  • Excellent communication and team leadership
  • Strong attention to detail in food prep and hygiene
  • Certifications :
  • Valid STCW certificates
  • C1 / D visa, Seaman’s Book, Seafarer’s Medical (or willing to obtain)
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
