Job Title : Software Engineering Manager

Location : Spain (Remote or Hybrid options available)

Contract Type : Permanent

Salary : €70k-€80k / annum

Job Overview :

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in building and delivering high-quality software solutions. You will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of the product, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement. Your leadership and technical expertise will guide the team through the full development lifecycle and ensure timely and efficient delivery.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, helping them grow and succeed while ensuring high-performance levels.
  • Design and implement software solutions in collaboration with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for the technical direction of projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration within the team.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and encourage best practices in software development.
  • Develop and maintain development processes, ensuring efficient, high-quality, and scalable product development.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure integration and alignment across different parts of the technology stack.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical challenges, ensuring high availability and performance of applications.
  • Manage and optimise the team's performance, ensuring timely delivery of projects while balancing quality and innovation.
  • Promote and implement Agile methodologies and ensure the team follows best practices for project management.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, bringing new ideas to the team.

Requirements :

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Software Engineer, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong experience in software development (preferably Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript) and modern software architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and experience leading Agile teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and performance optimisation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in scaling systems and working with large-scale applications.
  • A strong passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
  • Nice to Have :

  • Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native applications.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI / CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Familiarity with frontend technologies (React, Angular, Vue) and full-stack development.
  • Experience with data processing frameworks (Apache Kafka, Spark, etc.).
