PhD Researcher

A post-doctoral research position is available at the Research Institute Hospital 12 de Octubre i+12 for Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Tumors Group, Madrid, leaded by Dr. Rocio García-Carbonero (MD, PhD) and Dr. Beatriz Soldevilla (PhD).

Our main research lines are based on : i) identification of new drugs and / or therapeutic strategies in colorectal cancer and ii) molecular characterization of gastrointestinal and neuroendocrine tumors that justifies their behavior and response to the different therapeutic strategies proposed. Thus, the specific objectives of our group are : i) identification of prognostic and / or predictive biomarkers to antineoplastic therapies; ii) study of drug resistance mechanisms; iii) identification of new targets of potential diagnostic and / or therapeutic interest; and iv) clinical research of novel drugs or therapeutic strategies in gastrointestinal and neuroendocrine tumors (clinical trials phase I-III).

Requirements

• Candidates must have a PhD related to Life Sciences field (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedicine…)
• Extensive experience with research projects related to Translational Oncology, with special interest in gastrointestinal and neuroendocrine tumors.
• Broad cell culture experience with strong background in functional and cytotoxic assays, as well as primary cultures and organoids.
• Extensive experience in Molecular Biology Techniques and in handling of human samples (tissues and fluids).
• Previous experience with animal experiments (xenograft models and PDXs)
• Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures
• Publications in high impact journals as principal author.
• Good communication skills in English, team player mentality, independence and problem-solving skills are expected.
