About the Client
My client is the air transport industry's IT provider, delivering solutions for airlines, airports, aircraft, and governments. Their technology powers more seamless, safe, and efficient operations. They are looking to hire an experienced QA Engineer on a contract basis until the end of 2025, with a view to extend further.
About the Role
The Lead QA will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality assurance for our projects, ensuring that our systems meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and compliance with aviation industry standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership and Team Management : Lead and mentor QA analysts / testers, guiding them through Verification & Validation processes to ensure software correctness. Facilitate meetings, delegate tasks, and ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Quality Assurance Strategy : Define, implement, and oversee QA strategies, methodologies, test data management, considering product specificities and schedule constraints.
Testing and Validation : Lead product test activities (and execute some) for both functional and non-functional testing. Lead and coordinate End-to-End test activities involving other systems and external stakeholders. Ensure the QA process includes robust Verification & Validation.
Compliance and Standards : Manage compliance with aviation standards through structured QA practices.
Automation and Tools : Identify tooling needs to expedite tests (data generation, test scenarios, anonymization). Ensure implementation of automated tests using internal / external tools and frameworks.
Documentation and Reporting : Document all testing aspects, including strategy, test plans, results, defects, and improvement plans. Participate in Scrum practices and potentially contribute to Scrum of Scrums ceremonies for cross-product features.
Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement : Apply 8D methodologies for root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on testing and production feedback.
What we are looking for
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related; Master’s preferred.
Experience : 10+ years in QA / testing roles with at least 5 years leading teams. Experience with Agile practices, aviation operations (desirable), and remote teams (desirable).
Technical Skills : Proficient in V&V practices, test automation tools, and frameworks. Knowledge of aircraft and aviation data, ACARS, QAR / DAR / CPL / SAR, flight plans, loadsheets, METAR, aircraft systems (desirable).
Soft Skills : Leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and excellent communication skills.
Certifications : Certifications in QA methodologies, agile practices, or testing are beneficial.
