As a global function of approximately 850 team members, Group Audit (GA) is the bank's 'Third Line of Defence' acting as an independent and forward-looking challenger and adviser to Senior Management. We are also strongly relied upon by local regulators. We closely partner and collaborate with all Group business and infrastructure areas. This includes the Investment Bank, Corporate Bank, and International Private Bank businesses, as well as Technology, Anti-Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and Operations infrastructure functions.

Details of the role and how it fits into the team

Join Deutsche Bank's Global Internal Audit Team as a VP in the Validations team in Madrid. You will handle validations of complex Significant Findings across the team, ensuring completion on time, with quality, and within budget. You will oversee and guide other auditors involved, including monitoring and accepting their documentation, to present finalized and quality-assured results for sign-off.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead by example and guide auditors in processing work packages. Act as a coach to develop the experience and competence of the team.
  • Assess complex finding validations by conducting walkthroughs, identifying risks and controls, defining test plans, and concluding on the test plans.
  • Support the Audit Manager in coordinating validations as part of the annual audit plan, including scheduling, staffing, and monitoring timely execution, in close cooperation with audit teams.
  • Communicate openly with stakeholders across locations and partner with audit teams responsible for business process and control audits.
  • Proactively build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, other parts of the business, and support areas. Contribute to the development of methodological approaches based on experience.

Your skills and experiences

  • Relevant work experience with professional or industry-recognized qualifications; related qualifications are a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of risks, controls, and regulatory developments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex issues clearly.
  • Extensive audit experience within internal audit or the wider financial services industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple audit projects simultaneously, overseeing scope, completion, and quality of work.
