About the Role
Our client, a leading European space technology company, is seeking an experienced Power Electronics Design Engineer to join their growing satellite engineering division. You will play a key role in the design, development, and qualification of advanced power subsystems for spacecraft platforms, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across systems, electrical, and mechanical engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop DC-DC converters, power distribution units (PDUs), and battery management systems for satellite applications.
Perform schematic design, component selection, circuit simulation, and PCB layout reviews for space-grade power systems.
Conduct worst-case, thermal, and radiation analysis to ensure compliance with ESA and ECSS standards.
Support hardware testing, validation, and environmental qualification (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMC).
Collaborate with systems engineers to define power budgets, interface requirements, and redundancy strategies.
Generate and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, and design reports throughout the development lifecycle.
Provide technical support during integration and launch campaign phases.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
3+ years of experience in power electronics design—preferably within the aerospace, defense, or high‐reliability sectors.
Strong understanding of DC / DC converter topologies, power conditioning, and control loop design.
Experience with SPICE simulation tools (LTspice, PLECS, etc.) and Altium Designer or similar CAD tools.
Familiarity with ECSS or ESA standards, space-qualified components, and radiation effects mitigation techniques.
Proficiency in English (written and spoken); Spanish is an advantage.
Desirable Skills
Experience with FPGA-controlled power systems or digital power regulation.
Knowledge of battery systems, solar array regulation, or EPS architectures for satellites.
Hands‐on experience with hardware testing, debugging, and validation in laboratory environments.
