The Opportunity

Reporting to the Casualty Portfolio Manager, this role involves underwriting business in line with the business plan and within delegated authority.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the annual business plan for the respective business unit.
  • Apply reinsurance strategies to safeguard the casualty portfolio.
  • Participate in meetings to share and develop strategies and best practices.
  • Promote the department, division, and company to maximize brand presence.
  • Perform underwriting activities complying with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to underwriting standards and good practices to minimize risks.
  • Record and measure insurance risks accurately.
  • Understand and comply with reinsurance requirements.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, and colleagues.
  • Understand market dynamics to enhance performance.
  • Maintain expertise through continuous learning.
  • Underwrite risks, negotiate rates and terms, ensure documentation, and support business objectives.
  • Participate in portfolio reviews and ensure data accuracy.
  • Contribute to aggregate management and peer review processes.
  • Motivate and coach team members for professional development.

About You

You should possess :

  • High numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • Interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Data analysis capabilities.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of underwriting and reinsurance specifics.
  • Knowledge of casualty market conditions.
  • Familiarity with QBE underwriting systems.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other software.
  • Legal and regulatory knowledge.
  • Proficiency in English.
