Position Summary

TheManager,EnergyStorageApplicationsEngineeringprovidestechnicalexpertisetosupportCanadianSolar’s energystoragesolutions.The manager will drive the pre-salesactivitiesofutility-scaleBattery EnergyStorageSystems(BESS)includingsystemsizing,dataanalysis,preliminarydesign,costestimating, financial optimization, and valueengineering. In addition, the Manager will workcloselywiththecommercialandengineeringteamstohelp developproposalsfornewstorageprojectopportunitiesandprovidetechnicalsupporttorespondtocustomer needs.

Pre-sales Engineering & Design

ServeasatechnicalliaisonfortheSalesteamtocustomers,andanexpertresourceforgeneral productspecificationsandvalueengineeringdiscussions.
AnalyzeRFPorothercustomerdocumentationtodetermineprojectscope,schedule, specifications, risk, and technicalrequirements.
Preparetechnicaldocumentationforproposalsandcoordinatethebidpackagepreparationwith otherdepartments.
Prepare,reviewandnegotiatetechnicalcontractschedules.
Workcloselywithsalesstaff,engineering,andprocurementtoensurecompleteandsharedproject understanding andpriorities.
Conducttechnicalpresentationsandprovideclarificationstocustomersandotherdepartments.
Developsizemodelsandconceptualdrawingssets(ElectricalOne-lineDiagrams,SiteLayouts, etc.)incollaborationwithotherApplicationsEngineers.
Incollaborationwiththeengineeringteam.establishandmaintaintheengineering,designcriteria andapplicablestandardsandspecificationsforBESSprojects
PerformsitevisitsandBESSfieldinspectionsasneeded

CostEstimating

Coordinatein-houseestimatingactivitiesincludingrelevantdrawingsandspecifications

CoordinatemajorsubcontractorsRFPincludingscopesofworkforelectricalinstallationsand design

Incollaborationwithprocurementteam,investigatealternatesourcesforequipmentand subcontractors

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical) discipline is required; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.

Severalyearsofexperienceinapplicationsand / orsystemsengineeringwithanenergystorage integrator, consulting firm, developer, orOEM.

Directexperienceinutility-scalebatteryenergystoragesystemsorsolarPVplants.

Backgroundinpowerelectronicsorpowersystemswouldbeaplus.

Exceptionaltechnicalaptitudeincludingtheabilitytoreadandfullyunderstandengineering schematics,technicaladvisoryreports,andtechnologyreviews.

SolidunderstandingofregulatorystandardsintheUKandEuroperelatedtoenergystorageand grid-interactiveinverters.

Globalperspectiveandawareness,anddirectexperienceworkingacrossdiverseculturesina multinational company would bebeneficial.

A go-getter professional with a can-do attitude.

Ability to positively interact and collaborate with a diverse group of people at all levels and disciplines.

Excellent communication skills.

Comfortable in a dynamic and fluid environment.

Excellent time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects and a variety of issues, initiatives, and objectives concurrently.
