Position Summary

The Technical Product Manager for Racking Systems is responsible for a variety of duties including technical, commercial, and administrative tasks. These involve coordinating procurement activities and evaluating PV modules and mounting systems (trackers and fixed racking) for global projects. The role includes executing procurement activities according to Recurrent Energy’s procedures, managing technical evaluation processes, coordinating internal reviews, supporting responses to bidders, and assisting the global Procurement Director in implementing procurement strategies. Communication with suppliers, regional teams, and headquarters staff is essential to support project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical due diligence (TDD) of equipment as part of supplier validation, including leading Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Review and summarize technical product information for bid packages and recommend suppliers to stakeholders.
  • Assist procurement and engineering teams in technical reviews during bidding and detailed engineering phases.
  • Research and analyze customer and market requirements for existing and new racking products, communicating with suppliers and regional teams to inform product and roadmap proposals.
  • Present proposals to internal stakeholders for approval.
  • Manage tracker and PV module ecosystem to ensure compatibility with PV module technology.
  • Obtain market intelligence and perform cost estimation for products and projects.
  • Support financial modeling related to CAPEX and OPEX, considering technological aspects.
  • Determine technical requirements influencing project design, including wind, snow, seismic loading, and corrosion considerations.
  • Establish site-specific design requirements and optimize tracker configurations to meet customer needs.
  • Follow evolving codes and certifications, analyzing their market impact and advising management accordingly.
  • Communicate product details, advantages, applications, and benchmarks through presentations, training, and webinars.
  • Gather market intelligence and generate reports; assist in price forecasting based on market data.
  • Confirm compatibility of PV modules with racking systems and assist in preparing RFP packages.
  • Understand manufacturing processes and certifications to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and ethical standards in all activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering); a graduate degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with PV trackers, fixed racking, and PV module technology.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and structural systems, including review of structural calculations and wind tunnel reports.
  • Knowledge of PVSyst software and proficiency in AutoCAD and Office tools.
  • Technical aptitude for detailed product knowledge and market analysis.
  • Understanding of financial calculations related to product costs and pricing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, strategic planning, and analytical skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15%, including internationally.
  • Personal characteristics include being dynamic, results-driven, creative, ethical, and a good team player. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
