Position Summary

Supervise the daily operation of the laundry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Laundry Managers are vital to the management of any facility. They should possess technical proficiency, the ability to assess methods and procedures, knowledge of equipment and supplies, good judgment for corrective actions, and skills to determine the importance of divisional programs.

The Laundry Master reports to the Executive Housekeeper and is responsible for the efficient daily operation of the laundry. They must apply common sense, follow detailed instructions, and handle guest-related problems effectively.

  • Oversee washing, ironing, dry cleaning, and storage of all laundry products.
  • Ensure all equipment is operational and coordinate repairs with the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Coordinate with divisions for proper linen sorting, ensuring cleanliness and color separation.
  • Check finished products to meet quality standards, enforcing controls at each stage.
  • Inspect dryers daily for lint buildup and proper temperature operation.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections to ensure optimal operation and water temperature.
  • Submit daily inspection reports to the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.
  • Coordinate cleaning of non-logo uniforms with Linen Keeper and crew members.
  • Address laundry issues through the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Oversee sorting, washing procedures, and timely distribution of linens and laundered items.
  • Coordinate washing schedules with the Cruise Division to meet deadlines and specifications.
  • Manage formulas and cycles for different linen types and soil levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas and equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs, reporting malfunctions immediately.
  • Handle chemical supply requisitions and adhere to financial budgets.
  • Work with the Senior Deck Supervisor to ensure timely and quality return of guest items.
  • Perform quality control checks on linens, towels, and robes for Top Suite.
  • Review weekly sales, revenue, and budgets with the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Address guest concerns promptly to ensure satisfaction.
  • Apply environmental policies related to waste disposal and chemical use.

Hiring Qualifications

Requirements : High school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of related experience or training in laundry operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret English documents such as safety rules, manuals, and procedures.

Physical Requirements : Must frequently stand, walk, handle objects, reach, communicate, and may need to sit, stoop, kneel, or crawl in emergencies. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
