Job Description
Designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for Linux Kernel Filesystems, specializing in BTRFS.
Responsibilities :
- Development of BTRFS in the upstream Linux Kernel community.
- Maintenance, support, and bug fixing of SUSE's product lines in the filesystems domain.
- Participation in Linux Kernel community activities such as patch reviews and feature suggestions.
- Manage inter-company relations with other companies developing BTRFS and other filesystems projects.
- Develop organization-wide architectures and methodologies for software systems design and development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with the technology roadmap and business value; create plans for integration and updates into architecture.
- Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provide tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
- Leverage recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of software systems design and development innovation and excellence.
Education and Experience Required :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.Typically 2+ years of experience.Knowledge and Skills :
Work experience in the Linux Kernel community or other open source projects.Understanding of various subsystems of the Linux kernel and their interactions.Scripting skills for testing, performance, bug resolution, and data analysis.Experience with open source toolchains and development standards.Experience designing and developing software systems and tools.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.Designing and integrating software systems across multiple platforms.Evaluating and selecting testing processes and methodologies, including writing and executing test plans, debugging, and scripting.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English and local language.Ability to communicate product architectures, design proposals, and negotiate at business and executive levels.What We Offer
